Organic food is no longer the rara avis of fine dining in Barcelona. Restaurants like Céleri have taken it to the next level by combining creativity, innovation and an appreciation for healthy, locally sourced products.
Located in a quiet, cosy corner of the city, close to Avinguda Diagonal and Plaça Francesc Macià, Céleri has designed a menu of small Mediterranean-inspired gourmet dishes made with locally sourced organic ingredients. The dishes revolve around eight seasonal vegetables, which chef Xavi Pellicer gives three different interpretations: vegan, vegetarian, and animal protein.
Among Pellicer's signature dishes, one finds hummus with turmeric and flowers, potatoes macaire with tender green beans and mushrooms, caviar-style aubergine, freshly caught fish, and organic meat.
Guests can watch the cooks at work in the open kitchen, preparing dishes that they then personally serve to diners.
